Unknown gunmen have reportedly kidnapped Comrade Monday Izu, Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Delta State University, Abraka Branch.
Sources said that the labour leader was abducted on Thursday evening, along the Eku-Abraka Road, while returning from an official assignment.
His whereabouts was yet to be known as the kidnappers were yet to open any contact with family members of the victim as at noon on Friday.
When contacted, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Police Command, was confirmed the abduction.
But the PPRO told journalists that efforts were in top gear by operatives of the Command to rescue the labour leader unhurt as well as apprehend the abductors.
The abduction by gunmen of Comrade Monday Izu, came just 11 days after his 63rd birthday as seen on his official Facebook timeline.
