Exclusive Interview with Gospel recording artist Lanre Bishop || @iamlanreBishop @iamdanzor

What is your name and how did you come about the stage name?

My name is Olanrewaju David Akinropo but I go by Lanre Bishop…. My Grand mother gave me that name so I decided to use it as a stage name. I grew up in a musical family and it’s been part of me. I’ve been doing music since I was a teenager but professionally, it’s been 15 years. My family had a band back then with my three elder brother and my late big sister. My sister was the frontier (the lead singer) with a very sonorous voice. One of my brothers played the keyboard, and the rest of us backed her up. We had a few extras playing drums and we were called “The Akinropo Voices” .We made a great team. We handled lots of church events, concerts, Crusades etc. What keeps me still doing music is how God rescued me years back, I was in a situation where I could have lost my life, but God saved me. Like the Bible says, I have not silver or Gold to offer Him but my sacrifice of praise and my dedication to spread the gospel to every nook and cranny of the world is all I have to offer him, alongside my heart!

how long have you been into music and what motivated you?

I started music as a back up singer for my big sister. Then later on worked with other bands as a lead singer and few years after that I started my own ministry after learning most of what I could.. I even attended a music school to refurbish my skills and I’m still learning… You know music changes everyday. I’m grateful for being introduced into music from the onset because it encourages me and gave me the passion needed.

Tell us about your recent single and what inspired you’?

Lanre Bishop: My new song Kabio osi came to me like a dream… I was going through situation that challenged my faith in God, then God spoke to me with that song. That there’s none like him, I’m heaven in the earth, he’s the only one able to do the impossible thing.

What are the options available for downloading/listening to the tracks?

What’s your favorite Music genre?

I’m a lover of music generally, I love jazz, RnB, highlife, agidigbo Gospel, apala, tungba, Fuji, rock, folk music… All these fused with contemporary music. That’s why I call my music Afro-contemporary music.

Does your ministry affect your relationship with people? Like your friends, do they want to come around you?

My ministry doesn’t affect my relationships with people negatively, rather it is the honey that keeps people glued to me and interested in me… It creates opportunity for me to meet more people and impact the gospel in their lives.

It was an amazing experience having you around sir, God bless you and your Ministry amen.
