Insurgency: Boko Haram Attacks Gov Zulum’s Convoy, Kills 15 Security Operatives.

The Governor of Borno, Babagana Zulum was attacked again by suspected Boko Haram near the town of Baga in Borno on his way to visit Internally Displaced Persons with relief materials on Saturday.

Nigerian Tribune reports that Zulum escaped death after his convoy was ambushed on Friday, September 25, by Jihadist insurgents loyal to the IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) group.

With Loaded weapons, the militants opened fire at the convoy closed to the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force.

Some troops from Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon were also involved.

Not less than 15 security operatives were killed in the attack.

Governor Zulum was billed to officially return the people of Baga to their communities nearly three years after Boko Haram sacked them.

The governor’s spokesman, Isa Gusau, in a statement issued on Saturday explained what happened.

He said three separate convoys, one of the governor, the second, that of a government committee, and the third, a security escort team, were arranged for the trip.
