#END SARS: Minister Of Police Affairs To Investigate Allegation Of Lawlessness Against FSARS.

Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Dingyadi, has urged to guarantee a proper investigation allegations of lawlessness against officers of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police(NPF).

The statement was disclosed by the Press Secretary to the Minister, Mr Osaigbovo Ehisienmen, on Monday in Abuja.

Alhaji Dingyadi said the idea was to secure justice for the victims and reprimand criminal officers involved in such violation of citizens’ right and unprofessional behaviours.

He expressed concern over the ongoing report of crime against officers of the squad and other Police operational units.

The Minister of Police Affairs has called on the leadership of the Nigeria Police to strengthen its gears responsible for monitoring of officers to guarantee professional and improved service delivery.

He said the current call for banning of SARS was a strong response plan to improve the search into SARS activities and correct the unit for better efficiency.

The minister said the incident in Ughelli area of Delta was supported by operatives of a unit different from SARS.

He urged Nigerians to be alert in calling for absolute disbandment of the squad created to attack armed robbery and other violent crimes in the country.

Dingyadi said the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu had announced some measures intended for curbing the excesses of SARS officers.

According to him, the recently established Servicom Unit of the Ministry of Police Affairs has been mandated to work closely with the Police Public Complaint Unit and Police Service Commission to thoroughly investigate cases of infraction against SARS Personnel.

He said the idea was to hasten the resolution of all cases of crime against police officers and ensure that criminal officers were brought to book to serve as handicap to others.

There are a series of protests planned to take place against the atrocities of FSARS in some states on Tuesday, October 6.
