R&B Singer Fantasia Barrino Sustains Injury Resulting in Second-degree Burns, Husband Requests Prayers

R&B singer Fantasia Barrino has been injured and has suffered second-degree burns according to the singer’s husband, who is requesting prayer.

“Please, keep my Queen lifted in prayer, asking our God to heal her rapidly with no last negative affects [sic],” wrote Kendall Taylor in an Instagram post.

In the photograph, the chart-topper is seen in a hospital bed with her right arm bandaged and her face covered with a hood.

Barrino was scheduled to perform at the Fedex Forum in Memphis, Tenn. Sunday as part of Charlie Wilson’s In It To Win It tour, which also features Johnny Gill. The incident has sidelined those plans—something Taylor believes may have been divinely orchestrated.

“There are times when our Father intentionally slows us down to reflect and hear from Him,” he wrote. “My Wife experienced an accident today causing 2nd degree burns on her arm. She’s steady asking the Doc “Can I perform tonight?” But we must be wise and realize this isn’t a race, but rather a marathon.”

Barrino has been going strong since notching her second No. 1 debut on the Billboard R&B Albums chart last August with her project The Definition Of…

For fans who were disappointed to learn one of their favorite vocalists wouldn’t be available for the tour, her spouse assur,ed them “So Memphis, our team is already working to create a means that she can redeem this time with you.”

He continued, “Rock Soul won’t be denied, this is simply a delay that will prove to be necessary for what’s to come. We love you all and thank you for your understanding and support!”

He ended the post with two hashtags “#WeaponsMayForm” and “#NoneShallPropser,” based on a scripture found in Isaiah 54:17 that says, “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.”

Though the news caused concern among the 32-year-old’s broad fanbase, it seems that Barrino will be bouncing back rapidly. According to her team, she is planning to hit the road and begin performing again this week.

“Fantasia suffered a minor accident yesterday afternoon and is resting comfortably,” her rep told PEOPLE in a statement. “At this moment, our plan is to resume the tour in Los Angeles on Wednesday at the Microsoft Theater. She thanks all of her fans for their kind messages of love and support, and is looking forward to getting back out on the road.”
