HOLLYWOOD, June 29 (UPI) — Eleven-time Grammy-winning gospel singer Shirley Caesar received the 2,583rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday as she also celebrates 50 years as a solo artist.

Fellow gospel singers Yolanda Adams and Kirk Franklin joined Caesar in front of The Fonda Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard near the stars of gospel singers BeBe and CeCe Winans.

Considered a musical trailblazing singer who has influenced many others, Leron Gubler, president and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said, “her career has made an indelible mark on American music and the sounds of gospel.”

The humanitarian, entrepreneur and renowned gospel singer, songwriter, author and pastor has recorded more than 40 albums and won 11 Grammys, 14 Stellar Awards, 18 Dove Awards, and is a Gospel Music Hall of Famer

Born and raised in Durham, North Carolina, Caesar began her recording career in her teens, halting her studies to perform with the Chicago-based group the Caravans for eight years before going solo in 1966. Her gospel version of the country hit “No Charge” made her a star in 1975.
